March 30 SNOWBOARDING WEEKEND
Photo quality not good as we were up a mountain so my camera insisted on cutting out due to the cold. Several weekends ago we took 12 kids from the Youth Club on A snowboarding weekend. A very enjoyable weekend had by all kids were a credit to their parents as they all very well behaved. I cant wait to have another go at snowboarding. Only got one day of Snowboarding due to the weather conditions being not safe to go on the mountain so we went mountain biking instead.
House update Half of the House complete so Granddad can shortly move in whilst we languish in the caravan. Free hot water so it wont matter when the caravan water freezes, we now have a utility room I no longer have to load the washing machine outside anymore oh the luxury of that, my washing no longer blows down the hill whilst I’m loading it into washer. Finally managed to finish my pond which has nearly been there 12 months now so is looking nice and established, all fish have come through the winter so far! although we did wake up to more snow yesterday. Kids have gone from getting very exited by the snow to “oh no its snowed again mum”
February 27 life on the HillFor those of you that dont know I live on a hill which looks down on the whole village, which has fantastic views but also means that I can see everything going on around me.
Looked out today to see an unknown Land rover on the hill infront of me with two guys in it, they drove around quite a bit at first with the landy in some quite perilous positions.
They were looking at the land then they got out and and starting pointing to this bit and that and could see from my binoculars that a discussion was going on then they started putting white poles out any ideas anyone!
We have some ancient hut circles up here near to where they were so hoping that its that and not proposed houses. We have aready had the run in with archeology on our plot but it came to nothing as they did somthing quite illegal to my planning application, which they did not get away with I hasten to add. I believe we have a archeolgist here tommorrow on the next plot as they are sniffing around that one now.
There was nothing on ours apart from glacial morrain so we have some really nice boulders which my builder insists on burying to my horror. We have lots of sand too wonder where that was picked up from when the glen was filled with ice?
Apparentley these people who lived in the hut circles lived up the hill in summer then moved down again in the winter, so where is my house?up the hill duh!
Must admit though when I have walked over there that place does kind of make the hair stand up on the back of my neck. Definatley somthing about that place, I'll keep you posted on that one as do feel very drawn to going and taking another peak at it. When the cows are not there that is (been chased by too many cows before).
I know that this is a bit not in my back yard bearing in mind that I am buildng ere but this is why its so beautiful. I knew this was it for me the first time I visited I made the decision there and then to buy it, it feels such a special place.
We have eagles, buzzards, owls and all kinds of wildlife and at night, there is no horrible street lights spoiling the night sky. I just hope that is not going to change. However we are a very up and coming villiage only being 14 miles from the city so I suppose that it was inevetitable that other people would start sniffing about once our houses went up.
Nothing can spoil our view as we are so high up I just want to keep this nice place to myself. We have the odd tourist going through in the summer I can deal with that as they bring money and jobs to the villiage, but please no more houses.
February 02 Ive had the chopThank you for the kind words Rachel and Karen. All the kids big ones and little ones are still grumpy and niggly. Big kids beacause we have so much to do on the house yet, just the day to day ordering and sourcing supplies takes its toll. Kevin Mcloud makes me laugh on Grand Designs "you should of had a project manager" he says to them all. Yeah right like we all have the money to pay for one. Very exited Grand Designs back on again, its the only reason I have a television that programme (kids hate it, very bored with this house building stuff now). Makes me feel better when I see the mess other people are living in "ooh ahhh they have gone over budget" Kevin asks them that each week too, like Duh! unless you have a crystal ball and mystic meg behind you every step of the way its hard not to go over the initial budget! theres always the unforseen thing. We have had only one relativley small one-ish with the founds where the ground dropped away a little more than we thought ha ha, but even that was not a major eek.
Anyway back to kids-Little kids tried the usual arguing routine tonight so television was turned off followed by much crying and stomping from girly, (much sympathy Karen as just read your blog re-eldest son). Son banned from badminton club tonight which seemed to do the trick. Bad mum.
Have threatened that they will Not be GOING to the Valentines disco on Friday unless they behave for the rest of the week. Drastic action needed as I will be on prozac soon if they dont stop this arguing, we are all to confined in this caravan for this behaviour.
They both gone to bed thinking mum is real meanie, oh the joy of parenthood.
Had my long over due locks chopped today and was so surprised that hubby actually noticed as soon as he came in the van, it normally takes several weeks by the way! I joke not, has been known for us to be eating tea and hubby has said "you have done somthing different with your hair" to which I REPLY "YEAH 3 WEEKS AGO hun"
My hair does look like its had a realy good cut though, very pleased with it. I have been supporting the shaggy dog look (not a good look) for the past 6 months plus. Seem to have had other had other essentials to buy rather than hair cuts, they dont show you that on Grand Designs do they?
Hubby did want to apply for the show but I declined as this has been such a traumatic personal journey to get to this point in our lives and I realy dont think I could of delt with a televison crew and Kevin Mcloud. Ive got no patience with the family as it is just imagine having a camera put in your face too.
Nice tesco home delivery man (thank god for that service too, must of been a woman with kids who thought of that eh)? made me feel so much better after he had negotiated the mud, pipes mud and more mud to deliver my shopping. He said he had just moved into his house after been in a caravan for 2 years! TWO YEARS ...... prozac here I come. Going away now to sniff a big bottle of clary sage.
Night night all sorry for waffling on on and on about house stuff.
February 01 Kids are turning me into a mad woman
Life in the caravan is very stressfull at the moment as the two smallest children in the van are making life very uncomfortable as from the minute they awake untill they go to sleep they fight and argue with each other. I was awoken this morning by them physically hurting each other yet again. I have tried to tell them that one of them is going to finish up in a&e all to no avail!
I know we are in a small space and they cant get out of each others way but this is getting scary, and this has been going on long before we were living in a van.
I had two children because I was an ONLY 1 and longed for a sibling, but my two seem to hate each other, which is very upsetting as I come from a family where my mother and her sister have argued and disagreed all there lives. This is so sad as life is too short. I do not want my two to grow up hating each other. I have tried ignoring them, and letting them sort it out themselves which is fine for a ordinary argument, however I cant stand back and watch them knock each other to peices.
(as I type this, children are playing a game with each other without fighting)!WHile mum is feeling utterley stressed out.
argghhhhhhh and arhhghhhhhhh
